Today I’d like you to meet Jade & Natalie. Both are Honor Students. Both are Black Belts and both have been studying with me since they were 5.
I meet a lot of people and when they find out what I do for a living, I inevitably get asked “I was looking into Martial Arts for me/my child…what should I be looking for in a school?

Part of our Advanced Self Defense Training for kids is learning to defend against Bullies. Most schools have a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to bullying, but the fact of the matter is that bullying is alive and well and we need to protect our kids.
Confidence is a BIG problem in kids nowadays. Children are very sheltered and just don’t socialize the way we did when we were kids. They’re not outside, they don’t hang with multiple friends, so they struggle in new social settings 🙁
4 out of my 6 kids are already Black Belts. I found that 3-4 years old was the best time for them to start their training. Here’s why…The younger, the better.
When kids are small they don’t get “easy” or “hard.” What they do understand is boring and fun.
Meet Manesha one of newest probationary Black Belts.
Earning your black belt at our academy is no small feat
mind you, but Manesha’s victory is especially sweet!
The best way to build a competitive spirit in your child is to “challenge” them. You see, kids love a challenge.
When you bring your kids to our academy, we challenge them right from the outset.
First we’ll teach them a skill and then we’ll turn it into a game. Games are fun!
The one that concerns (and keeps us up at night) most is grades. When our kids don’t do well in school we blame ourselves or even worse our ego gets involved and we say “But I was good in school!?” so we blame our significant other’s gene pool 😉
I can’t tell you how many times I have parent in my office (pulling their hair out) because they’re struggling getting their kid to follow direction. This is when I share our #1 Teaching Skill—PCP.
PCP stands for Praise-Correct-Praise!
